When I booked our holiday I was rather nervous.. camping with 2 children, in a tent? was we mad? I had always enjoyed camping, but that was pre-children! this could ruin my love of it, forever!
We arrived at our destination in Maplethorpe and pitched our tent, my worst fear was in the rain but luckily the sun was shining and it was rather warm. Thankfully it was stress free with 2 children running around merrily. We then went and explored the resort we were staying on. All amenities were on site. Restaurant, a small fairground, a park, a swimming pool and night-time entertainment for the children, it was lucky really as we were quite isolated with only a beach over the road.
The first night was a little unsettled, Thor was under the impression we were going home to bed, so was a little distressed by it all, but once he was settled he was fine the rest of the week.
The week consisted of eating lots of food we would not normally eat, spending a perfect day on the beach hunting for starfish, building sandcastles, bingo, playing in the fairground, swimming, realising the flume in the swimming pool was actually quite fun! Watching the sun set every night, waking to the sound of birds every morning, watching the children smile, laugh and have fun every day, spending quality time as a family, crochet, paddling in the sea, eating ice-cream, bubbles…
Our 2013 holiday was wonderful and now Moo is starting school its going to be the last holiday where its going to be so quite! (although it was still rather busy for out of term time!) I wish it didn’t have to go so quickly, but Ive come away with some lovely family memories, which I will never forget.
