Date Nights {The Ordinary Moments}

This is actually not an ordinary moment. Its very rare me and Mr B get out. Most of the time I prefer to sit snuggled on the sofa in front of the TV. Watching a film, chatting about our days and generally relaxing together.

The opportunity came up to let the children go for the night. I have only ever let them stay out once before and to be honest I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the fact they were not next door in bed and the house was too quite. A few years later I decided to let them go and try another sleepover with nanny and granddad. It was hard to let them go.

The reason for letting them go, was it was my birthday and Mr B was taking me out for a civilised meal. It was actually really nice, although half the time the conversation lead its way back to the children. It was nice to spend time together as a couple and it was nice not to have to do the bedtime routine {which is becoming extremely hard at the moment!}

We didn’t exactly get the lay-in we wanted, we couldn’t sleep so we were up at 6am, which is typical isn’t it? No children and the chance for a lie in and you are up at the crack of dawn! The children absolutely loved staying at nannies and I feel so much easier about letting them go off for sleepovers!

We talked, we laughed, we held hands, we cuddled and we may of had a cheeky kiss. It was lovely to just be us and I just wish it happened more often. Sometimes we get so roped up in parenting we forget who we are and really date nights or time away is very much needed!

I am linking up with the lovely Katie at Mummy Daddy Me for her wonderful linky The Ordinary Moments

    Ah it sounds lovely, we rarely have date nights but if we do we are always back that evening. We have only ever been away from the children once and not had to do the morning routine. Hope that you had a lovely birthday. x
