the obligatory back to school post

We are officially back to school. It only feels like last week I was publishing my “schools out for the summer” post. The last 6 weeks have flown by and we are back in full swing of the school run, routine and everything school related.

This year, Gracie moves into Year 5 and Henry moves up to Juniors and starts Year 3. I am really not sure how I have two children in juniors, but its happened. Henry has settled back in really well. He loves school {he wouldn’t admit it}, adores his teachers and loves spending time with his best friends.

Gracie is a little bit more problematic. She is going through so much change, she is struggling with her emotions and I am struggling a little too. Its a whole different level of emotions and we are adjusting to whats going on. She suffers with a little anxiety and this does not help what-so-ever. I am hoping once she has settled back into the swing of things, she will relax a little and leave the anxieties at the school gate. I hate her feeling so confused and it must be so hard for someone so little to adjust to those emotions.

We are only 3 days into the new school year and already this term looks like its Jam Packed. Henry’s theme is “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”  and Gracie’s subject this term is Ancient Egypt. She isn’t overly keen on it, but I think she will really enjoy it. I need to push Henry and his hand writing. He has become so much more confident with spelling and reading which is fantastic because I was always worried about how he would cope in Year 3.

We are back to normality, routine and back to learning. The first few days were a little bit of a culture shock, not just for Gracie and Henry but me too. Setting the alarm and getting everything ready the night before. Feels like we were never away.
