The Making Of Something Beautiful {The Ordinary Moments} …

When Moo was at play school, she excitedly bought home a plastic cup with a single seed in. This seed was this beautiful sunflower.

My heart sunk slightly when she ran through the door with it, as we actually don’t have a garden (yet.. one day we will!). We watered and nurtured it and it started growing and it started out growing the tiny little cup. We thought about planting it in the communal gardens that we use, but we were worried that the gardeners would get a bit carried away and trim it back thinking it was a weed of some kind. Moo loved watching it grow and we felt slightly disheartened at the fact we may have to get rid of this poor sunflower!

Thats when the lovely grandparents stepped in and gave us a spot in their garden, where it happily sits. Every other sunday when we go up for our sunday dinner we all skip down to the bottom of the garden to see how our sunflower is doing, and this Friday just gone, I was delighted, to see a huge flower on it! Moo jumped for joy and if this blog displayed the children I would of posted the picture of her bright shiny face as my “ordinary moments” photo. She was amazed at how the seed had produced the flower. She did ask where the other flower was (there was two seeds she planted) and as of yet it has not flowered, but I think any day now its going too.

This is most definitely an ordinary moment in our household, Moo loves seeing how well the sunflower is growing, its just a shame its not in our back garden! and I love to see her reaction each time we go. We talk about about tall its getting and we also get Moo to water it (when she wants too!).

I am linking up with the lovely Katie at Mummy Daddy Me for her wonderful linky The Ordinary Moments

    • I am rather chuffed with ours, its the first thing that we as a family have grown (although it is thanks to the in-laws they are the ones that are taking care of it for us!) But I have promised Moo once we get our garden (whenever that will be) we will take the seed and plant it in our very own garden so we can look after it ourselves!

  • Oh this is a gorgeous ordinary moment, I love the story behind it. This is exactly why I started this linky, it will be so nice to look back and remember that in years to come. I bet she is as proud as punch about her sunflower. And that was nice of the grandparents to lend you a spot for it. Just lovely all round. 🙂 x

    • Thank you! I have to be honest, I was wondering how I would put up a post without the children in the photo’s but I managed it!

I love the idea of the linky, cant wait for next weeks 🙂
