MONTHLY FAVOURITES | AUGUST

MONTHLY FAVOURITES | AUGUST

One of my favourite Vlogs to watch are monthly favourites. I love having the recommendation of something from others. I’ve actually taken up some of the recommended favourites from Vloggers, and they have fast become mine.

I have decided to do a monthly favourites post myself and just maybe {if I decide to add it} there will be a monthly favourites Vlog from non other than me! I have been toying with the idea of Vlogging for quite a while. Not all the time as I am pretty self conscious at how I come across. Just a monthly round up and possibly one other video. Without too much waffling about what could be, here is my favourite items this month.

First up, I have been loving make-up by Barry M. I am not make-up savvy at all and I really don’t know what I am doing most of the time. I literally put in on and hope for the best but I have been using a Barry M Primer, which I am really loving. It primes my skin before the foundation and I am really impressed with the way it goes on and feels. Its not oily and it leaves my skin feeling really smooth and ready for the foundation stage.

Which brings me to my next favourite which is of course a Barry M flawless foundation. I can never ever get foundation right and I always struggle with lines. When I think I have blended it in, I find that the colour just doesn’t sit well with my skin tone. I think I may of found the foundation that works for me and I am loving the feel of both products {the primer} on my skin. I’m liking that I don’t feel like I have a face clogged full of make-up and my skin feels light and not mucky from all the products.

Lastly from Barry M, I am really enjoying this nail varnish. I am a sucker for polish and although I don’t use it on my finger nails I always paint my toenails all year round. I’ve that horrible embarrassing habit of nail biting, so to stop that I use fake nails, which I can’t use on my toes for obvious reasons! My Barry M nail polish collection is quite large but out of all of them, this is my current favourite. The colour is Sprint Finish and it goes on really well. It is part of the speed dry range and it definitely dries quicker than a lot of my other polishes.

I purchased this lovely colour palette from Collection {Boots own range} and I adore the shades. I bought it a few months back and I am really enjoying experimenting with different, darker shades. This palette blends really well when mixed and its really not that heavy on the eye. I don’t buy expensive make-up as its just not something I think I could justify buying. This Collection range is definitely worth the money as does exactly what you expect it to do.ย

And Lastly for beauty, I dye my hair. I have always dyed it from as long as I can remember. Unfortunately now the grey hairs have firmly set in I dye it a lot more than I ever have. Its taken me a long time to find a dye that I like and I feel comfortable using. Schwarzkopf is by far the best out there for me. The colours are bright and vibrant and for the best part of 8-10 weeks my hair looks really healthy and glossy. I do find it fades quite quickly and will fade to a red more than a purple. But I love the colour non-the less and would highly recommend using this brand if you wanted to dye your hair at home.

Moving onto clothing and shoes, I bought these gorgeous shoes in July from Office and I am normally a Solillas kind of girl. As soon as the sun comes out my boots get thrown to the back of the wardrobe and I wear them all through Summer and Autumn. I have been swayed though and I have lived in these sandals for weeks. They are really comfy and so on trend. I’ve seen a lot of different variations of them around. I’m kicking myself as I ย wish I had purchased the Rose Gold glitter ones but I saw the Gold and grabbed them instantly. The Rose Gold were only available online.

I find they go with everything too, I bought a Denim Pinafore dress from Primark and I love wearing them together. I have wanted a pinafore dress for quite a while and I managed to pick one up for a bargain price. Again, I have been wearing it constantly when the weather has been kind to us. I should of got a full length image but I forgot!

Lastly clothing wise, I have been living in my flamingo print pyjama shorts. Anyone that know me knows I love a flamingo and when I saw them in Primark, I had to snap them up. I have to admit, the top that came with them is quite large as the sizing never matches up. I tend to wear them with a plain vest top. They are super comfy and definitely a favourite of mine this month.

I’ve indulged in one book this month. I have found it really hard to read throughout the summer if I am honest. Finding the time has been difficult and come bedtime I am so tired its the last thing I want to do. I have however, really really enjoyed The Couple Next Door. Its a thriller which I am currently really enjoying as a genre. Ever since I read The Girl On The Train, I have been heading towards the thriller market. This book has you guessing. You do find out early on what happens, but there are quite a few twists and turns to keep you guessing and its a really good read. I was a little disappointed with the ending, but thats just my opinion, I felt it ended rather abruptly! But thats not stopping me from recommending it to others to read!

When this is finished it will be classed as homeware, but for now its an unfinished project. But all the same I am really enjoying being sucked back into the world of crochet. I’ve been making a chevron blanket and I have taken quite a lengthly break from it. This month I picked it up and I am loving being able to find a quite space and hook away.

Lastly I am loving this reed diffuser from Bayliss and Harding. I was bought it for my birthday by a friend and it is by far the best one I have smelt. Its a limited edition Pink Prosecco and Cassis diffuser. Since we bought the dog I am forever buying them and having candles lit around the house. But this particular one currently sits on my bedside table. Its such a beautiful scent. I am on my last bottle, but I am going to have to try and purchase some more!

So there you have it, my favourites for August. I have added a video which I recorded. I am very nervous as its my first video I have done alongside the blog, and I think it shows. I’m hoping I get more confident as I go on. I won’t be a regular vlogger, but I thought I would step out of my comfort zone and see where it gets me!

  • Loved it! Well done on the vlog, you could tell you got more confident as you went along. You definitely need to do more (says me who will never get infront of a camera).

I want to know how many flamingo cushions you have on your bed. I can definitely see one (I’m a nosey cow), but it looks like there could be a second. Infact, I reckon you should vlog your entire flamingo collection! Oh and you need to get Fleur on camera too!

I just ordered a Barry M Primer last night (mine’s a ‘glowmance’ one apparently) as I saw really good reviews for them. And I’m addicted to the nail varnishes. Those sandals are gorgeous and I love the top you’re wearing.

I’ll stop gushing over all your stuff now. But definitely do more vlogs x

    • Haha! Thank you so much! Still pretty nervous it’s out there! I have 2 flamingo cushions! If I was to Vlog everything flamingo it would probably take hours! Haha! Barry M is a great brand, I use quite a few bits.
