It’s 8pm on a Thursday and I would have normally had this post ready and waiting in my scheduled posts. Its been a pretty horrendous week with yet more illness and H has been off for most of it. But we have had a fun filled birthday week celebrating his 5th birthday! Without too much waffling here is what I have been loving.

I have restarted The Trouble With Goats and Sheep. I didn’t pick it up for some time and I lost track so I took it to my hospital appointment this week and managed to get back into it.

H received The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight for his birthday and we both snuggled down while G was in the bath last night and read it. It was really good. Its a rhyming book which I love as I like it all to flow nicely of the tongue. Definitely would recommend it!

Nickelodeon, Disney, YouTube and anything else child friendly! H has dominated the TV whilst he has been ill and I have let him to be honest. I have not watched anything particularly interesting this week.

I did watch H having a complete and utter blast with his friends at his bowling party on Sunday. He was so excited about having a party this year and he enjoyed it so much.

Today I am watching {weather permitting} G and H’s sports day. G is really excited and H doesn’t really have a clue as he has not been at school all week, but I am looking forward to it as it will be his first one! Here is hoping we get a few 1st places!

You may recognise this from the IKEA advert. I gets me every time I hear it or see it. Something quite lovely about the song and the advert always chokes me up.

Can we skip this one? Seriously struggling this week as I have just worn my mum clothes. Jeans, chiffon tops and sandals.. Pretty boring really!

I said last week I would be making H a birthday cake. I actually let the cake defeat me and I gave up with it as I just couldn’t get it right. My first attempt at a rainbow cake and most definitely my last! The first batch got stuck to the tin and then my second batch came out rather dull! Was nothing like those bright vibrant Pinterest cakes you see! I ended up making a mad dash to Asda and buying a rainbow cake and then turning it into a piñata cake myself. H loved it, which is the main thing.. He will never know the tears and sweat that went into his 5th birthday cake!!

I also made up some Lego this week. We bought H a police boat and some Lego sport cars for his birthday. Out of his birthday money he bought a huge pirate ship. I spent most of the day yesterday building them {you’re never too old for lego!}

‘And lastly..’

I saw this on Facebook this week and it sums me up entirely when it comes to the football, plus it fits in to my Harry Potter obsession quite nicely!

I don't care about the #EURO2016 because the last time I cared about abig sporting event Voldemort returned and Cedric Diggory died

Have a lovely weekend!

    I love your Harry Potter quote! Sorry to hear H has been under the weather, and that you had a disaster with the cake. I accidentally asked my eldest what he wanted for his 3rd birthday (years ago) and he said a minion driving a tractor. After spending a fortune on icing I produced something that looked more like one of the kids play dough sculptures. But I made everyone eat it anyway! Have a great week! #Littleloves

      I don’t think I will be rushing to make a rainbow cake anytime soon again! xx

    Your cake comment really made me giggle as it is completely something I would do. I’d have all good intentions of making a cake, it would be a disaster and I would end up on a mad dash to the supermarket for a back up. Why do things never end up like they do on Pinterest?? xx

    HOW did I miss this post? I’m glad I did a quick double check to make sure I’d read everyone’s little loves!
    Gutted about the cake 🙁 So many of my recent baking attempts have ended up in the bin, it’s so disheartening.
    That quote at the end is the best and I honestly could not agree more.
