little loves | september edition

Its F R I Y A Y which only means one thing and that’s a Little Love round-up with Coffee Work Sleep Repeat.

What a month! Its been full of new starts for everyone. Gracie and Henry went back to school and I started a brand new job. I am officially a working parent and its taking quite a lot of getting used too! I managed to get myself a really lovely job. I am really really happy and although I have only been there two weeks, I already feel settled.

I am really lucky, that it still works around school, so I am able to still drop and pick up. Its just a chunk out of the day and its taken some getting used to. Planning when I will do the housework, get the washing done etc. Its thrown me a little but I can’t complain, it seems to be working out really well so fingers crossed it continues!

Without too much waffling, here are the little things I have been loving.

Read

I have only read one book this month. Its the book everyone has spoken about and its a book I would highly recommend! This is Going To Hurt: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor by Adam Kay. I found myself laughing, crying and feeling so so sorry for the people who work for the NHS. I also feel so thankful that we even have the NHS as it does a hell of a lot and its taken for granted on so many levels. If you have not read it, you must read it before the year is out. Definitely a huge hit for me.

Watched

I am sure everyone will mention this, this month, but I cannot not mention it. Bodyguard! It was bloody brilliant and I was hooked from the first five minutes. I could not wait to watch it once the children were in bed. James decided to watch it with me, normally things like that don’t appeal to him, but he said he was pleased he gave it a go. What did you think? I really hope season two happens!

I also watched another brilliant BBC programme. Killing Eve. Now I know all the episodes are available to watch on demand, but Ive decided because we have so much to watch I will watch them weekly. But 2 episodes down I am already hooked. Here is a quick synopsis and trailer.

Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh), a desk-bound MI5 officer, begins to track down talented psychopathic assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer), while both women become obsessed with each other.

I also managed to catch the new trailer for Making a Murderer which is going to be on Netflix on October 19th. I am so excited to watch this season. The first was incredible and I really want to know whats happened since the last series.

Heard

Two songs I have been listening to ALOT this month are Maroon 5 and Julia Michaels. I am loving both songs {one fairly new and the other an oldie} Adam Levine looks rather dishy with shaven hair!

Wore

I bought a few new bits this week. I stepped well out of my comfort zone by buying a Turtle Neck. Two in-fact. I watched Charlottes primark haul and loved one of the tops she bought. I managed to find one when I popped into my local Primark so snapped it up. I also bought some skirts and a jumper. Perfect combo for autumn/winter.

Cant not mention Gracie and Henry here. They are ops back at school and are in uniform! Its so much easier to keep up with the washing when they are at school! Is that just me? I find I keep on top of it more as there are less things to wash! Probably not the case though!!

Made

Cake! I made a cake. I decided to whip one up over the weekend. Chocolate of course. Its normally really hit and miss, chocolate cakes always tend to come out a little dry when I make them. This one was perfect and was so moist and soft. Huge hit. Suprised I even managed to get a photo as it didn’t stick around for long!

And Lastly

We have tiles on the kitchen walls!!!! Its been a long process, but things have picked up and we are slowly getting back into the process of trying to finish the kitchen. James has been doing it all himself, so its been a bit stop-start. But the tiles arrived and he has been working hard on his days off. Still needs grouting. Next job is book in the plasterer {yes we have done it all the wrong way round – but money played a huge part in doing it this way} Hopefully we will then be able to order our new kitchen table!

I loved This Is Going To Hurt – it was raw, funny and completely eye-opening. I flew through it! I love those kitchen tiles – we still haven’t completely finished ours despite it being fitted two years ago. It just takes so much time and money doesn’t it? I’m about to watch Bodyguard now, heard SO many great things about it. Enjoy your weekend xx

Glad you’ve settled into your new job so well – how brilliant that it still fits around the school runs! Love that outfit – I used to wear skirts and high neck tops a lot and over the last few years have slipped into the Mum uniform of jeans and a jumper. Definitely need to change that and start being a bit more adventurous again. Hope the progress continues on the house – we have SO many little jobs to do and never seem to get round to doing them. I hope October has got off to a good start for you 🙂
