little loves | august edition

Its F R I Y A Y which only means one thing and that’s a Little Love round-up with Coffee Work Sleep Repeat.

I said it last month, but how quickly has August passed? We are officially coming to the end of the summer! Its literally flown by and I am going to be very sorry to see Gracie and Henry return to school next week! I will no longer have an infant school child. Both will be in Juniors which makes me quite sad!

We have had quite a lovely summer. We’ve  made the most of the glorious weather {not so glorious of late}. We have spent it as a family, with friends and with extended family and its been so nice. Its also been lovely to have those very much needed slower paced days.

Without too much waffling, here are the little things I have been loving.

I finished one book this month and its one I would really recommend. Its a really easy read and one I really enjoyed. Jane Fallon’s My Sweet Revenge. I have written a post all about the recent books I have enjoyed so there is a longer review of it over there. You can read it here. I have made the most of sneaking of and having a bath the last few weeks. I have quickly started a new book. He Said, She Said by Siobhan Kelly. I am literally pages in so cant say too much about it.

So many things. We started Glow on Netflix, bit weird but watchable. We are 2 episodes in on season one. Have you watched it? If so let me know what you think and if its worth carrying on with! Its set in Los Angeles in 1985, Ruth Wilder, a struggling actress, auditions along with many other women in a fledgling professional wrestling promotion called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW).

We are also watching Celebrity Big Brother, now Love Island has finished I need my trashy TV fix! Its a bit crazy this year and already two have left {one eviction and one being thrown out} To be honest they were the trouble makers and were really grating on me so I am pleased they are out.

Bake off is back, and one I have not watched yet, got that on record. I love it, and although I still miss Mel and Sue, I don’t think its changed. It still feels the same {apart from the adverts!} I was saying this week though that I have remembered the winners from the BBC format but I couldn’t for the life of me remember who won it last year, I had to google that! It was Sophie Faldo if your interested!

At the beginning of August we went to see The Incredibles 2. I will admit we only watched the first one 24 hours before seeing the second! We were a bit late to the party with that one! It was really good though and both Gracie and Henry enjoyed it.

I listened to my first ever Podcast! Yep I know, I have been under a rock or something. I heard Giovanna Fletchers Happy baby, Happy mum podcast with Louise Pentland and I really enjoyed it. I am now going to listen to some more. Going to give Alison Perry’s a go.

I have been listening to this song a lot recently. It seems to be on the TV and Radio a lot so its hard not to listen to it. Such a beautiful song, and Freya Ridings has an amazing voice

The weather the last few weeks have taken a dramatic turn in the south {well not that dramatic}. We were basking in 34 degree heat at the beginning of the month and now we have dropped down to a very modest 23 degrees. It means its a lot cooler {which makes me happy} and it also means I am putting those pasty white legs away. I have got out the jeans and longer sleeve tops and I may have insta-storied a reply to mum reinvented that I was in a dressing gown one evening! It was chilly, I swear!

This month I also got my glad rags on to celebrate my mum and her husband Ken’s joint birthday. It was a big 60th and 70th. We went to a very lovely local village pub. We had our own room and we drank, laughed and had some really lovely food. The highlight was the magical they supposed us with. Close up magic is unbelievable. I felt awful the next day, but was a sign of a good night!

You may notice a massive change on the blog. I have wanted to get a new theme for sometime now and I just thought, if I don’t do it now I never will. Its definitely taken some tender loving care to get it to this point and I am so so pleased with the final look. I always say I have an image of the way I want my blog to look in my head, and this is it. I am hoping it inspires me to get creative and create more content, because I have neglected this little corner for quite some time now.

And Lastly

One thing that has really stood out this summer was a particular day out. We packed ourselves off to London {I say we, there was a whole gang of us sister, brother in law, nephews, mum, her husband ken, James and both Gracie and Henry} We went to Greenwich Peninsula and spent the day doing lots of touristy things. We went on the Emirates Skyline – was definitely something I was eager to do! I’ve wanted to go on it for ages and I loved it {couldn’t say my sister or husband rated it!} A boat up the river thames, trains, tubes and we saw the most fantastic show that is currently on at Greenwich. Dinosaurs in The Wild.

It was fantastic and slightly unnerving. The acting was superb and really it was very cleverly done. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone. They are only there for a few more weeks so I would check online first. The staff were so good and kept up the feel that you really were with dinosaurs on the wild. So very good. Was definitely a highlight to the summer.

Definitely carry on with Glow, I’ve watched both seasons now and it’s so good.
Love the changes you’ve made to your blog. I really need to set aside time to work on mine. It needs a tidy up and the pages need a revamp for sure. x

I love Jane Fallon books. I can’t remember if I’ve read that one and have another one waiting on my kindle for me, or if it’s that one waiting! My mind is like a sieve these days. I watched a few episodes of Glow and gave up, wasn’t for me, but everyone seems to love it. I caught Bake Off in the hotel room the other night, not even tuned in to CBB, although your tweets last night made me think I was missing out.

Ha ha you and your dressing gown! Feels a bit warmer again today thankfully. The nights have definitely cooled right down though haven’t they. I love Greenwich, my whole family on my mum’s side were born in and around Greenwich and were still living there when I was a child so I spent so much time there. It’s almost unrecognisable now, but I want to take the little dude there as he’s never been – the moody teen had her first outing as a baby there in the park. We were going to book for the dinosaur thing tomorrow, which is its last day, but we didn’t fancy braving the traffic on the way back seeing as it’s back to school for lots of kids on Monday. Gutted we missed it as the little dude would’ve loved it.

Love the new blog theme. I’ve been eyeing that one up since pipdig released it. Not sure I can be bothered to redo it all over again, only changed the theme a few months ago. I get bored so easily though. Hope the kids have a great first week back at school x

Oh CBB has been awful this year!! Honestly it’s horrible. Feel so sorry for Ryan as he is being made to be something he isn’t. Just hope it all comes out in the end!

Oh that’s such a shame about the dinosaur day! Your little one would of loved it. To be honest it’s been so popular I think it will be back for sure!

Thank you, it’s definitely made my blog look more professional! Pipdig have such lovely themes! So glad I got one 🙂 hope the first week back at college and school is a success for you all!

It sounds like you had a great month. We really wanted to go to Dinosaurs in the Wild with my eldest but I think the little one would have been scared so we never made it. Your blog is looking great – I keep thinking about updating mine but it feels like such a big job! #LittleLoves
