hello december

We are 12 months in, the end of the year is fast approaching. I am still shocked at how quickly the year has flown by. I mean December, already?!? It doesnt see possible that we are approaching 2019! But before all that we still have a very busy month ahead. So this is what December has in store for us

The End Of Term

I will be honest, I have been on full countdown since the half term finished. The first full term always seems to drag a little. The excitement of December brings the end to all of that. I cannot wait for Gracie and Henry to finish school for the year. They both break up fairly early compared to last year. So we have a few days before the big day itself to spend time as a family. 19 days and counting!

Decorating The House

We normally leave it till mid month before we put the decorations up. The reason for this is because we tend to buy a real tree and we always worry that come Christmas Day, we come downstairs to find the tree naked and all the pine needles on the floor! I love the smell of a real tree so I have been reluctant to change that tradition.

This year we decided to go out and buy a fake tree. This got me all excited and in my madness decided that the first weekend in December the decorations MUST go up! So this weekend we are doing all things christmassy in the house.

Spending Time With Family

One thing I love about Christmas is we get to spend it with our nearest and dearest. Christmas Day we will spend it with James family {all 15} its rare that we all get together – as there are so many of us. Its nice to be all in the same room. Boxing Day I am off to my sisters, which again will be 10 of us. Its the perfect time of year to have everyone you love around you. Shame those two days go by so quickly!

Painted Walls

Last month I was excited about having our walls plastered. This month I am just as excited to get some colour on the wall! The plasterer came at the beginning of November. It took quite a while for it all to dry out. We managed to get it whitewashed, and now we are at the stage of actually getting some colour onto it. At the end of December hopefully all the painting in the kitchen will be complete! We are trying to juggle it between working which is proving difficult!

I have a work Christmas party to go to this month. I am really looking forward to going out with the girls from the office. Chatting to them in a non-work environment. I have bought a new {very sparkly} top and some new shoes and I am intending to drink, laugh, be merry and maybe throw a few moves on the dance floor!
