60th Birthday Celebrations…

I am really lucky to have amazing in-laws. I get on really well with them and I am thankful that I do. I know there are many couples out there that dread the in-law visits, but I love them! We always go there for dinner every other Sunday, have a catch up with grandma {Husbands nan} and rotate seeing the husbands sisters.

 From the moment I met my husband 10 years ago they made me feel part of the family {including my sister in laws who are the best too!} I feel very lucky to have all of them in my life.

Anyhoo, this weekend we celebrated my father in laws 60th birthday! Everyone together. He is a bit of a Marvel/DC fanatic and came up with the idea of a superhero fancy dress party.

I struggled with a costume, I was a bit uncertain about who to be and everywhere I looked they seemed a bit raunchy, if I am honest! Short skirt, stockings, tight fitting {not really my cup of tea, showing of some flesh!} So I decided to kit myself out in black, buy some ears and a mask and go as cat women. The husband went as Iron-Man and the children went as Spider Girl and Spider Man.

I was so eager to see what everyone else had dressed up as. The birthday boy himself dressed up as The Riddler, then there was Harlequin, Wonder Women, Venom, Super Girl, Bat Girl, Poison Ivy, Banana-man, Captain America and Superman. Quite a good turnout!

We ate, drank {lots}, laughed {even more}, watched a thunderstorm from the comfort of the cabin at the bottom of the garden and generally had a real good time!

Moo and The Little Boy, were so excited, we stayed over and slept on blow up beds {which let me tell you, as you get older, they get more and more uncomfortable!} After the excitement wore off, they fell into bed and slept till 7.

All in all it was a lovely day, even though the weather was a bits pants {my father in law ALWAYS gets good weather for his birthday and in the 10 years we have been celebrating them, this year was the only year which had rain!}

I am looking forward to the next big get together in just a few weeks {cowboy dress up!} and then in July celebrating the in-laws Ruby wedding Anniversary! Bring on the fun!!
