Apple & Blackberry Crumble | Recipe

In all my 32 years existence I have never made a crumble. I am not sure why as they are so easy! I made this for dessert on Sunday and it went down really well and definitely something I will be making again..

For the crumble topping

  • 120g plain flour
  • 60g caster sugar
  • 60g unsalted butter at room temperature, cut into pieces

For the fruit compote

  • 4 good sized Bramley apples
  • 2 punnet’s of blackberries

  1. Heat oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Tip the flour and sugar into a large bowl. Add the butter, then rub into the flour using your fingertips to make a light breadcrumb texture.
  2. Meanwhile, for the compote, peel, core and cut the apples. Sprinkle the blackberries and apples into an oven proof dish. {Now I boiled the apples so soften them slightly and made the mistake of over boiling so some were a little mushy, but luckily I managed to save most of it. Its personal preference to boil, or not to boil}
  3. Scatter over your crumble mix
  4. Cook in the oven for roughly 20-25 minutes till the crumble is golden brown
  5. Best served with warm custard

    Best crumble recipe ever! I use blueberries mostly instead of blackberries but you can put all sorts in this and it would be lovely.
